The Joys (and Fabulousness) of Snapchat

snapchatBeing fond users of the photo messaging  app ‘Snapchat’, we thought we’d be fun to tell you why we love Snapchat so much.

For anyone out there who has been in a cave the whole of your life and don’t know what Snapchat is: It is an app where users can take photos, record videos, add text and drawings, and send them to their friends. You can set a time limit for how long recipients can view your Snaps after which they self destruct.

So why do we love snapchat so much?

  • It is the perfect way to keep in touch with your friends when you’re apart, in a different country or time zone as it is completely free – as long as you have internet connection.
  • Sending Snap’s is so much more fun and visual than sending text messages because your facial expressions show a message in their self.
  • Screenshotting is available – so when someone sends you a funny picture which you want to keep to blackmail them with, you can. However, the app does tell the person on the receiving end of the screenshot that you have taken one, so it does set you up for the inevitable ruining of your life.
  • It’s a way to share a moment with a friends in a different way to traditional social networking which is permanent – so a lot more private.
  • The drawing tool is brilliant for making yourself into different characters or for blocking out bits of the picture you don’t want to see. Or for writing your own message when it’s too dark to see a face.
  • You can have three best friends, which means three people appear the top of your contact list and as a Star on your Snapchat profile online. This is basically the people you spam the most with Snapchats. Although recently, it seems to have gone down to two, which basically just upsets us. Myself and Scarlett are of course–or should I say WE’RE–best friends on Snapchat, until Scarlett decided to spam others instead of her beloved Laura.

So what do me and Laura send on Snapchat?

I think that it’s safe to say; Scarlett is the person who spams on snapchat the most, where as Laura sends cute ‘Good Morning’ messages now and again, ones where something has clearly hyped or excited Laura (no filthiness intended) and replies to Scarlett’s snaps (sometimes). Bath time selfies are Scarlett’s favorite type of snap (You don’t see any body, just face)-(you see a lot of body, I have near proof of boobs) and well Laura just likes to spam Scarlett with funny faces now and again when she feels awful for her Snapchat ignorance and rejection of others time and effort to send her snaps. Scarlett also does this, but to everyone on her contacts list (SPAM, SPAM, SPAM!). Both of us also take great delight in sending each other amusing videos about events that have occurred to us in previous days. We also have great pleasure of sending each other pictures of our animals acting like humans. Or the ’20 steps to Multi-coloured hair’, the ‘How To Revise’ and other guides have also been a feature in myself and Scarlett’s snapchats.  We basically have a range of snaps that we send each other of our daily life. Every one is different, so there’s no excuse for boredom. One thing they do have in common though-they are all hilariously funny. Oh, and fabulous.

Another time we like to use Snapchat is when we’re with family because everyone loves a family photo (especially when it’s an amusing one).

As you can see in this photo, Laura’s Dad is clearly a fabulous an majestic man with his ‘trout pout’ – like I said, the pictures shows so much personality, that’s just one of the reasons Snapchat is perfect for communicating.

In conclusion (as we were always taught to do in History), Snapchat is great because it’s a totally unique way to communicate with those you love, and those you love not so much (possibly a bad decision to send them snaps you don’t want to be help against you for the rest of your life). You should all download it and have much fun laughing at the funny snaps you get sent, and laughing even more at the fact you can screenshot all the embarrassing ones to have for future use.

For Android phones, (like myself) it is free to install and download on the ‘Google Play Store’. For Apple phones, I’m pretty sure that it’ll be the same scenario, except you will need to download it from the Apple store. For Windows phones (like Scarlett’s), I literally have no idea. I imagine they do have the app, and it is free, but I have no idea where you download it from. For any other types of phones, I have no idea. You either need to upgrade, or make use of the beautiful and fabulous internet. But don’t let extra research deter you. IT WILL BE WORTH IT.

Until the next time,

Stay Safe, Stay Warm, Stay Hydrated and Stay Fabulous!
